Both Nicki Minaj and Ciara incorporated trending South African music into their recent TikTok videos, which garnered millions of views. Mzansi was excited about the recognition, but also wondered, why now?
Ciara filmed a lovely video showcasing the Benin culture during a photo shoot with a group of beautiful African women. She used PeeKay Mzi’s now-viral Amapiano song, Magumba.

South Africans were stunned two days ago when Ciara used one of their current favourite songs, Magumba, in a recent TikTok video. Things got a bit awkward after Nicki Minaj also used a trending song by Master KG in her TikTok video that reached over five million views in 24 hours.

The people of Mzansi loved that their music industry was being acknowledged by the greats, as they’ve also been streaming and celebrating global artists. Ciara’s video is currently sitting at 2.5 million views.
Both American artists caused quite a buzz online after dropping their now-viral TikTok videos. Ciara captioned hers:
