South African Singer AzureDé Arrested During Instagram Live, Fans Call Her Bluff

Social media was buzzing after AzureDé was arrested while on an Instagram Live stream. The Sondela singer was recording music in a studio in Johannesburg when men dressed in police uniform, replicating the SAPS, stormed in and disrupted her stream.
Shortly after, the stream ended abruptly, leaving many of her with questions that only she could answer.
AzureDé's team responds to her arrest
The 3 Step singer's team took to social media to confirm that the arrest was 'real.' "We can confirm AzureDé was taken into custody late last night while at a Johannesburg studio. We are working with relevant parties to resolve the matter and will provide updates in due course. We appreciate the outpouring of concern from fans and assure everyone AzureDé’s spirit remains unshaken.”

After a while, they took to her Instagram page and posted a longer statement assuring her fans that she was indeed in police custody.
“We aim to address the events that transpired during her Instagram Live stream. Firstly, Azure would like to extend her heartfelt gratitude to her fans and supporters who stood firmly by her side during these challenging circumstances.
"While AzuréDé is currently unable to communicate directly, please be assured that she remains resilient, determined, and optimistic. Her team is working tirelessly with legal representatives and relevant authorities to ensure her swift release and a fair resolution to this matter," they wrote.
The statement continues by stating that the singer would not be shaken by what transpired.
"AzuréDé's creativity, passion, and spirit have always been at the core of her identity. This difficult moment will not diminish her voice or her commitment to her art and her fans worldwide.

However, all of this screamed a publicity stunt.

However, on Friday, 15 August 2025, the singer confirmed many of her fans' suspicions that she was promoting a new single. She posted a song cover on Instagram dressed in orange overalls.
