South Africans took to social media this week to react to an old video of former Uzalo actor Glen Gabela discussing his salary and deductions.

The veteran actor, who is known for his roles on Uzalo and Shaka, recently made headlines when he asked for food and financial assistance.

Gabela topped social media trends this past week when Gayton McKenzie commented on his donation video and said he would reach out to him to help out.

Social media user @nondyebo shared an old video on TikTok, of Gabela on Sunday, 17 August 2025, revealing that he used to earn R37 000, had to pay R32 000, and was left with R5000.

Glen Gabela’s daughter calls him out

In more entertainment news, Briefly News previously reported that veteran actor Glen Gabela's alleged daughter rubbished his comments about his finances and his late wife.

Gabela revealed in an interview earlier this year that his wife left him because he couldn't afford a house in the suburbs.
