The negative impact of cheating, according to an expert
While speaking to Briefly News, psychologist and relationship expert Penny Holburn told the publication that unless there is an agreement that the marriage is an open one, cheating is "devastating" for the partner cheated on. The relationship expert went on to explain how cheating affects an individual:
"The pain and hurt generated are immense and hard to get past. The partner who cheated needs to stop cheating. There needs to be an understanding of why the cheating occurred. Since trust has been broken, it will take time and a lot of effort to rebuild the relationship. It can be done, but it is not easy, and rebuilding trust takes a long time," she said.
