Family members separated the three siblings after the death of their mom, with each of them joining different households around the village. The lady did not enjoy living with her aunt and explained that she was treated like an outsider.

The woman did not live far from her mother’s house and would often pass by to check whether her mom had really died. She one day found the gate open and went inside.

During their stay at their mother’s house, the siblings were always woken up by their stepmother, who alerted them about their deceased mom’s return. The stepmom was spooked and ended up leaving:

“Things got hard for her to the point where she could not even eat. Dishes started falling, and that’s when she decided to leave. She explained that a ghost was abusing her.
“The interesting part is that she was the only one who was bothered by the ghost. We were not scared. She ended up living at Gogo’s place.”

The three siblings continued to live in their mother’s house alone, and one day, they heard the front door open. They heard footsteps around the house and a woman sniffling in the kitchen as though she were crying:

“We saw a very bright light that shone brighter than our paraffin lamp. It was so warm and we were not scared. She checked for groceries and threw empty containers on the floor and broke one of the cupboards.”

The siblings were too poor to afford food to the point where their brother would steal eggs from neighbours and use Vaseline to fry them. They felt their mother sitting on the bed they shared one night, and sat up to see her full figure:

“My mother was crying. We saw her real body. That was the last time we saw her. I believe our mother was fighting for us. I’ll never forget that day.”

The woman believed that her father and stepmother blocked her mother from coming through to them after they held a big ceremony upon his return to the village and sacrificed a cow:

“I don’t even see my mother in my dreams anymore. I sometimes hear a bit of her voice and choose to believe it was her.”

“Yes, it was their mother. She just wanted to make sure her kids are safe and well taken care of. Now they blocked her from being a great protector for them. I would feel the same if it were my mother.”

@Neo.Josey explained:

“Clearly, they blocked her from coming through because they knew at some point she would confess what happened to her.”

@Vincent Ndlondlo commented:

“I think they know what they did to her, the cause of her death.”

@mandie06 wrote:

“I always say if I were to see my parents' ghost, I would not be scared. I am longing to see their faces.”

“What painful story, yho.”
