Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has shared a new update about Themba Zwane's injury after their exiting clash against Orlando Pirates in the MTN8.

The South African international was stretchered off after 10 minutes against the Sea Robbers, but the diagnosis about the nature of the injury is yet to be confirmed.

The Bafana Bafana star just recovered from a knee injury that kept him out of action for a long time last season, but participated at the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States were the Brazilians failed to reach the knockout stage.

Cardoso gives update on Zwane's injury

Speaking after the match, Cardoso commented on Zwane's injury and hope it won't be a serious problem for the player and the team.

“We are still awaiting a complete medical assessment on Zwane's injury, but we hope that it is not too serious,” said Cardoso as quoted by SABC Sport.

“Injuries are never easy, especially when they involve a player like Themba Zwane, whose experience and skill shine brightest in crucial moments,” Cardoso remarked.

Looking back on the game, Cardoso pointed to the away goal as an important “silver lining” in their 1-1 draw, a result he felt was fair considering how closely contested the match was.

He also acknowledged that the outcome could have swung either way but commended the Buccaneers for their solid performance, particularly their strong defensive effort.
